Syed Aminul Islam having obtained bachelor degree on Law (LL.B. Hon's) from University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh joined as a Member of Bangladesh Civil Service (Judicial) on 17th July 1983. Since then he has been serving as a judge in different tires of judiciary experiencing trial of civil and criminal cases, hearing of appeal thereof and trial of cases filed under different Labor laws of Bangladesh. While he was acting as Additional Registrar of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and District and Sessions Judge, Gazipur, he had actively participated in discussions with the World Bank representative and decision making process in matters relating to judicial capacity building and thereby gathered experiences in the fields in respect of case management, improvement in qualitative and quantitative clearing up of backlogs of cases, improving court environments and infrastructural development of the court having civil and criminal trial jurisdiction. He had been also serving as Director of National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) when he got the opportunity to supervise, control and maintain over Legal Aid Services to poor and disadvantageous group all over Bangladesh. Now he has been serving as Registrar General of Supreme Court of Bangladesh since February, 2015 where he supervises and controls over all tires of court at District level and tries to combine of works of officers and staff working in the Supreme Court.

Mr. Syed Aminul Islam has participated in Distance Learning Course for Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Thailand on Judicial Reform: Improving Performance and Accountability in Asia jointly organized by the World Bank Institute. He has visited UK, USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Italy, India, Sweden, Denmark, China, Vietnam and Indonesia in official tour where he got the opportunity to be acquainted with the judicial systems of these countries.

Moreover, Mr. Syed Aminul Islam acted as resource person in Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI), Dhaka, Bangladesh where he made deliberations for the trainee Judicial Officer and court staff during several training courses. A descriptive article written by this resource person titled ‘Overview of Government Legal Aid System’ was published in the ‘Daily Star’ on 29th April, 2013.
